SURVEY INSTRUCTIONS - GRILLES / OPTIGUARD / ANTI-BURGLAR BARS

Accurate surveying is important for a correct installation

To ensure the product will fit in the opening please Warranty to apply products must be fitted screw tops provide:

  • The ACTUAL measurements of the opening.
  • The smallest measurements if an opening is not square.

It is the responsibility of the fitter to make an opening square by using packers or shims.

Bradbury Grilles will fit into an opening that is slightly larger or slightly smaller than the actual measurements provided. (N.B. This does not apply to Optiguard.) These ‘Fitting Tolerances’ vary according to the table below:-

Product Fitting Tolerances
SG1 +/- 7mm
SG2 +/- 10mm
SG3 +/- 10mm
SG4 zero
Anti-Vandal +/- 10mm

SG3 does not require top and bottom fixings. It may, depending on the application, be ordered considerably smaller or larger than the height of the opening. Allowance should however be made for any centre stop.

Security Grilles Direct will manufacture as close as possible to the ordered size. Manufacturing tolerances are +/- 2mm for all products.

Products can be reveal or face fixed or a mixture of both. Be aware of any obstructions that will interfere with the opening like skirting boards, dado rails or window/door handles.

For grilles decide which is the best place to put the stack (see product pages for individual stacking widths).

Check that the structure you are fitting into is strong, solid and complies with minimum fixing standard.

Please note that for Certification (when applicable) and the Security Grilles Direct Warranty to apply products must be fitted in accordance with the Minimum Fixing Standard.

The Minimum Fixing Standard assumes installation direct into substrate and not via intermediate substrate, such as plasterboard. The perimeter of the grille should be made good, using mastic or similar and all exposed screws should be spoiled.

Minimum Fixing Standard

Into Wood: Use 12 x 60mm hardened steel wood screws (or larger).

Into Block, Brick and Concrete:
For the Sides (Anchor Channels) use 10mm x 100mm frame fixings or equivalent. For the Top and Bottom Tracks use hardened steel wood screws - No.12 x 60mm (or larger). Must be at least 3 per track.

Into Steel: Fix with M6 button head machine screws, drilled and tapped, or No.12 self- tapping screws.

Fixings must not be more than 300mm apart and there must be at least 3 fixings on all four sides.

Maintenance / Operation Instructions

SG Grilles and Anti- Vandal Screens require little maintenance, however to preserve appearance and smooth operation the following is recommended:

Clean all hardware and surfaces by wiping with a damp cloth using mild detergent and dusting down with a soft clean cloth. For grilles the bottom track may be vacuum cleaned to remove any debris. This is particularly important for surface or recess mounted tracks.

Security Grilles Direct Warranty

All Security Grilles Direct products are guaranteed for 2 years against faulty parts or manufacturing defects. This guarantee excludes damage, misuse and third party installation. Certified products must be fitted in accordance with the Minimum Fixing Standards.
